Foam Cave Props – Stalactites & Stalagmites
Custom foam cave props made for a NYC club!
This large custom carved foam cave arch, stalactites & stalagmites were hand carved in EPS foam for installation at an New York City club to represent a major brand both inside the club and in a newly designed window display. Our NYC area company was contacted to create the custom foam cave props for their location. The scenic sculptures were all hand carved from what most folks call styrofoam (expanded polystyrene). We sculpted the foam into organic rock shapes, creating stalactites and stalagmites in various groupings. One grouping was made into a very large cave arch that would be mounted to a wall, quite high. All pieces were then sprayed with a hard coat for stability and a faux rock texture and finished with realistic hand painted layers of color to create the final, aged stone look.
In addition to the foam themed decor and window display, we also created a clever cave-themed coffee table, made to look like cut down stalagmites with a glass table top. We love making organic sculpted pieces into custom furniture!
This sort of theme prop building could easily be translated into home theater and home decor or amazing event props, in addition to theming for retail spaces, clubs and bars or even an office lobby!
