Piranha Movie Prop Puppet Display
A Custom Themed Display for a Piranha Movie Prop Puppet Used in the Film Piranha 3DDD!
Some props are made to come right at you! This piranha movie prop puppet is an original that was used in the 2012 American 3D horror comedy film directed by John Gulager. The third film in the series had to be 3D! The client wanted a display with a small footprint and just a bit of theme for context. Being a horror film, that gave us a chance to have some fun too!
The silicone prop puppet was in great condition on arrival. We came up with a custom mount of 3 posts with custom shapes to support the heavy fish puppet. Each was topped with EVA foam for a safe touch against the original material. The back side supports a connected original syringe that was used to pump faux blood on set.
For the themed base, we drew from the idea of a tiled pool. White tiles were used around the perimeter and a blue faux water added another layer to the piece. Lastly, as you might expect for a prop puppet from this particular film, realistic faux blood was generously applied. We even mixed some in with the pool section for the look of fresh blood in the water.
