Custom Giant Foam Pumpkin Props for a Massive Halloween Display
When it comes to foam props, one of the best things is you can GO BIG! Whether it’s our massive spooky tree prop or giant time portal prop, we love carving up big pieces of EPS foam into trade show props, store displays… or one-of-a-kind Halloween creations! This trio of giant pumpkins are definitely the latter and would be right at home in any theme park.
Our lead foam artist, Richard Riley crafted these huge gourds to be part of a huge Halloween display. Working by hand with rasps and hot tools, Rich carved up EPS “bead foam” into beautifully realistic and HUGE pumpkins! The largest is about 5.5 feet tall and all three have massive diameters. Twisted stems were sculpted to add even more character to these unique pumpkin props.
While we were tempted to add carved faces to make them hollow jack-o-lantern props, instead, the client wanted to use projection technology to add singing faces to the three pumpkins. The perfect thing to bring big fun to a huge home haunt.
With a hard epoxy coating hand-applied over the foam sculpted pumpkins, each took on some heavy duty durability. Layers of orange, browns and even greens were brushed on by hand to give this giant foam props a wonderful sense of realism!
