Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Display

Our Conquest of the Planet of the Apes display for a screen used Caesar style chimp movie costume.

One of our clients reached out to us looking for a custom display statue.  They had an original Chimp jumpsuit from the production of the 1972 movie and wanted to turn it into a life-sized statue for their home. With the costume and a resin head, we created this life sized Conquest of the Planet of the Apes display evoking the iconic Caesar character from the film.

Our clients decided they wanted to use their chimp jumpsuit to create a custom Caesar statue instead of just an unnamed chimp. For the resin head we once again reached out to our friends at Apemania. We then created a custom mannequin in the classic, semi hunched posture of the famous apes from the Planet of the Apes movies. We added a pair of urethane hands which we custom painted to match the Caesar head. We also added fur to them to complete the realistic chimp look for the life sized statue.

To give the costume added context and another link to a scene in the movie, we added a themed base which drew inspiration from the sand pits and obelisk that the chimps are chained to in the film. The obelisk is carved from EPS styrofoam and is finished to look like aged cement as seen in the movie.  The final result is a moment from the film and not just another movie costume on a retail mannequin!
