Scream Sidney Prescott Costume Display Form

Do you like scary movies? A custom mannequin for a Neve Campbell costume jacket from Wes Craven’s Scream

Although Wes Craven’s slasher film has the trappings of a satire, Scream is now considered one of the most iconic horror film franchises of all time! We were so excited to be asked to create custom form to help display the original, screen-used Sidney Prescott jacket, worn in the first Scream film by Neve Campbell. While a jacket like this may not seem like it would require a custom display, film costumes are often smaller than standard retail mannequins, or can fit in odd ways.

Using custom form allowed us to match Campbell’s body type, and create a display that supported the costume jacket without stress and with a great drape. The front opening with the buttons, in particular, wanted to hang open at an odd angle, and our custom form helped those sides stay parallel and fit more like it did on Campbell in the film.

This project began like all others, with an in depth discussion with our client to hear their hopes for the display, how much space they had to devote and their budget, etc. After discussing several options we settled on a minimalistic black, headless mannequins encased in a custom acrylic display case. This display would keep all focus on the jacket and give the display a museum like feel. The body was also modified to have less cleavage and belly anatomy, so that the display wouldn’t look like a jacket on a naked form.

When the jacket arrived it was, (unsurprisingly) covered with fake blood from filming. While this allowed the client to screen match the jacket to the movie, the dried blood had stiffened some of the denim and some of the areas of the jacket needed to be gently reshaped to allow the jacket to sit more naturally on the form.

The final result is an elegant and striking display worthy of such an iconic costume jacket!
